Steve's Video
Here's the video Steve made at our 12 week 7 day visit. At this point, the heartbeat was a good and healthy 161 beats per minute.
15 Weeks, 1 Day
Finally feeling better now. My bouts of nausea/dry heaving/vomiting began to subside about a week ago, and I feel great now. There are the super-random times when out of nowhere, I'll need to rush to the bathroom to retch a little bit, but those times are few and far between. I still can't stand the smell of chicken, and I haven't been able to eat much of it. The only big problem is that I have no appetite. I get hungry, but I don't want to eat anything. When I do get food, I can only eat a few bites and I get full. I understand that it all has to do with the changes my body is going through, but it's frustrating because I need these nutrients for the baby.
Speaking of bodily changes, wow! I get winded easily (because the carbon dioxide level in my blood has decreased in order to make it easier to transfer more carbon dioxide from the baby to me), and I have been more tired than usual. I've been really sleepy, and my body has been getting sore by the end of the day. Also, my digestive system has slowed a significant amount--hence the whole not being able to eat much. We get to find out the sex in less than two weeks!! I can't wait to a) find out what we are having, and b) seeing our growing child :)

Finally!
I can share the news I wasn't sharing before.
I'm going to be a MOM!!!
I am 13 weeks, 4 days pregnant. We are over-the-moon excited, and look forward to each doctor's appointment.
I have had morning sickness for the past two months straight, and it is finally starting to get better. I haven't had to vomit very often, but it has all been nausea and dry heaving. I can't stand the smell of fried chicken, and other random smells will set off another gagging episode. As long as it means the baby is okay, I am fine with it. But that's not to say I'm not happy it's starting to subside! I definitely hope to post more frequently, since it'll be a great way to keep everyone updated on my health, the baby's health, pictures, and videos. We get to find out the sex at our next appointment in three weeks!

More work
So keeping up with this blog is harder for me than I thought. I have the best intentions each day, but then I get caught up in other stuff. Bleh.
Aaaaanyway, I went to Incheon today to meet up with a lady at my boss' church. I'm going to start helping them out with some English classes for the young kids there. It'll be every Saturday for an hour, so it shouldn't be bad. Several weeks ago, I had sent my resume and a picture of myself to the lady in charge (my liason at the church). I had only kept in touch with her through email, so I didn't think much of her spelling errors when I read her notes to me. Well when I met with her today, she was really hard to understand. I had to keep asking her to repeat herself, and I felt bad because I can normally catch on to what people are saying. I also feel bad because the longer I was there, the more I didn't really want to be there anymore, and I'm kind of stuck for at least the next several months. I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end, but not really in the mood for it now.
Once we were done with our meeting, she walked me to the bus stop to show me where it was. While we were waiting for the bus, she said, "When I looked at your picture, I thought your face looked very luxurious," referring to the makeup I had been wearing in the picture. "But now, no." In other words, 'you look like crap and your picture was totally misleading.' How do you react to something like that? Oh, but it gets better. This chick then goes, "In the picture, your face looked VERY big. But your face is not big. I see you, and your face is very small!" Umm, okay. Then she went on to say, "When I sent your resume to our pastor, I thought your face was so big, so I resized it so your face would be small. I used Photoshop to make it small." Like, am I supposed to be happy that you insulted and complimented me in one fell swoop?? I just kind of gave her a tight smile and was like, "Okay."
I know she was not trying to be rude, but she's also lucky that I've been here for so long and have grown accustomed to the "Korean way" of doing things. People here do it all the time, they'll insult and compliment you in one sentence. Like when I was fat, I would run into coworkers in the elevators and they'd be like, "Have you lost weight? Your face is smaller." First of all, no. You saw me yesterday and the day before. I haven't lost any weight at all. Second, am I supposed to jump for joy and be so thankful that you noticed my 'skinny' face? So annoying sometimes, but I've learned to let it go. First, she didn't speak enough English for me to tell her what I really thought. Second, it wouldn't matter. It would have been in one ear and out the other.
Just another day in the life of a foreigner in Korea.

New Stuff!
There are some new developments happening at the G. household, and I'm pretty excited to share--soon-ish! Praying everything continues to go as planned, and we just have to wait a little longer to make sure things fall into place.

THAT girl
One of my coworkers annoys the crap out of me. She is sloppy, lets the stuff on her desk, she lets the stuff from her desk overflow over to my side, and she has an odor problem. Not body odor, but she definitely needs some fabric softener or let her clothes dry better or something. As far as the desk space goes, I've gotten to the point where I put a stack of books to the right of the dividing line between our desks (she sits to my left), just so her stuff won't get on my side. I bet there's a person no one really likes at every place of work, but it's so annoying when she sits right next to you! I could say something, but I am not really a confrontational person (working on it!). I also don't want it to be awkward between us, since we do see each other every single day.
